Nuclear Green and Madrid Blue“You aren’t supposed to know these things” he said,Nuclear Green and Madrid Blue
yet here I am, wording away on a crowded train working
through time’s blueprints with sweating palms;
I walk between the streets: paper parallelism
the color of quintessential blue skies [Madrid in July]
where gold-pressed & finger-painted words make their nests
To my eyes, these streets glow nuclear green where epiphanies wait in the dark for
slow hands, cycling like the moon

Cold and dust sweeping in bursts across wide open courtyard conveying a feeling of desolation.
Morning, sun still weak, waking slowly, eyes still shut. Casting light, but not as yet warmth; sitting, waiting.
Shadow from long face of barn, emphasised by low angle of sun, depicts beautifully the mood. Reaching house, laps at walls, like cat crying for food. Creeps up walls, moving at invisible pace.
Trees, lining courtyard, at outer extremities, bend inward, straining to hear faint whispers of rumour spread through wind. Hearing, they repeat.

How did we wind up this way? How did we get here today, Not speaking, Not looking each others way?
I’m asking all these questions, Although I know the answers… I guess I just don’t want to admit to myself, Things will never be the way they were.

| I used to write poetry but not so much anymore. I'm more of an academic writer than a poet which is why my poetry isn't top notch. But I enjoy dabbling in poetry; I like messing around with sounds, images and words. I plan on being a librarian which I'm really excited about. I got my undergrad in Spanish and English Literature. Eventually I want to end up living in Chicago, hence the picture. |
